(Optionally) Installing the Antennas Remotely
Mount antennas remotely from the gateway if installation is inside a metal enclosure, if needed to provide clearance for mounting, or if needed to increase the range (e.g., mounted higher in the room).
Note: Three-foot (CMDR-ANT-EXT-3) and 15-foot (CMDR-ANT-EXT-15) extension cables are available from KMC Controls. The cables come in packs of two. The extension cables are the same for both Wi-Fi and cellular communication even though the antennas are different.
To install the antennas remotely:
-
Drill two 6.5 mm (or 1/4-inch) holes in the desired antenna mounting panel or bracket.
-
Insert the connector of one extension cable with the threads on the outside through the hole and screw the antenna onto the connector.
-
Attach the connector on the other end of the cable to the appropriate connector on the gateway.
-
Repeat the previous two steps to install any other antennas.
Continue to Mounting the Gateway.
